Five-room HDB flat in Toa Payoh, Size 1,571sqf

This five-room HDB flat in Toa Payoh is enviable
for its size; but to create an even larger space for the
couple in their 30s and their two young children, the
designers at Arte Living Design Studio decided to take
down the walls between the foyer and the kitchen.
To create a cosy ambience, wood-like laminate
flooring from Evorich Flooring Group was used in the
living room. For contrast and some fun, bold colours
such as orange and purple were used for the sofa and
roller blinds, respectively.
To complement the style of the living and dining
areas, the design of the kitchen was kept simple;
white countertops and overhanging cabinets were
paired with cabinetry clad in dark wood-laminate.
Concrete-like flooring tiles, also from Evorich
Flooring Group, were used to differentiate the kitchen
from the other spaces.
Colourful art pieces customised in Vietnam don
the walls of the home – mostly lining the corridor –
bringing a spark of colour to the interiors. Soothing
wood tones dominate in the study room; these were
added using wood-look laminates from Lamitak on
the door, bookshelves and study table.
In the master bedroom, a wash of light on the
wall from the cove lighting above creates a relaxing
ambience. A soothing sense of nature permeates the
space, with artwork resembling a forest, and woodlook materials used for the flooring and wardrobe.
